This one is written for an Indian D2C team — where COD still drives 50–70% of orders, UPI Intent settles in seconds, RTO eats margin in Tier 2/3 lanes, and Diwali pulls a quarter's revenue into a two-week window. If a step below references a payment gateway choice, the answer isn't universal: we pick by vendor response rate, not affiliation. Follow each step carefully to ensure correct pricing, stock, and visibility.
Open the Shopify mobile app
Tap the Products icon (🏷️ tag icon) from the bottom menu
You will see the list of all products in your store.
On the Products screen, tap the + (Add) button at the top-right corner
A new blank product page will open
Tap Add images, videos, or 3D models
Shopify will open your Gallery / Files
Tap + to upload new media
Select product images/videos
Tap the ✓ (tick mark) to upload
📌 Best practice:
Use clear, high-quality images with good lighting.
Tap the Title field
Enter a clear and descriptive product name
This title will be visible on:
Product page
Collection pages
Search results
Tap Add description
Enter product details like:
Fabric / material
Colour
Usage
Care instructions
Tap the ⭐ (Star icon)
Enter a short prompt (example: “Blue cotton saree”)
Tap Generate
If satisfied:
Tap Keep
If not:
Tap Generate again
Tap ✓ to save the description
Tap Category
Choose the relevant category from the list
📌 This helps customers find the product easily in collections.
Enter Price (selling price)
Enter Compare-at price (MRP / original price – optional)
📌 This shows a discount on the product page.
Uncheck “Charge sales tax”
(to avoid Shopify adding extra tax at checkout if GST is already included)
If your product has sizes, colours, or types, add variants
(Refer to the Variants SOP for mobile if required)
Go to Inventory
Tap Edit
Use + / – buttons to set available stock
📌 This helps Shopify:
Prevent overselling
Track stock correctly
Scroll down and tap Shipping
Ensure Physical product is turned ON
Enter product weight
📌 Weight is required for:
Shipping charges
Courier calculations
Tap Category → category checklist opens
Tick the boxes for required categories
(example: Sarees, New Arrivals, Top Picks)
Bottom black bar shows selected count
Tap ✓ to apply
Tap + (Add) at the top-right
Enter:
Category name / Display name
Keep Status = Active
Tap ✓ (Save)
Select the new category checkbox
Tap ✓ to apply
After completing all details, tap the ✓ (Save) icon at the top-right
✅ Your product is now live on the store.
Always double-check price & stock before saving
Upload at least 3–5 images per product
Assign correct categories for better visibility
Test the product page once published
