Headless Next.js Frontend Development

From a rented theme to a Next.js storefront you own.

Q: What exactly does ₹4,00,000 buy?

The frontend-only headless build: a Next.js storefront you fully own, built from your design files, integrated with the backend you already run (Shopify Storefront API, Medusa.js, or Vendure), with Core Web Vitals work, a full redirect map, deployment with CI/CD, and complete code handover. Fixed price, 3–4 months.

Q: What's NOT in it?

Store development, UI/UX design, CRO, backend setup or migration, and ERP/B2B integrations. The first three are exactly what the ₹5,00,000 enterprise bundle folds in — about ₹2,75,000 of engagements bought separately, for ₹1,00,000 more than this build.

Q: When is the bundle the better buy?

When your design files aren't dev-ready, when the store itself still needs work (catalog, payments, GST), or when the funnel has never had a proper CRO pass. Any one of those bought separately erases most of the ₹1,00,000 difference — two of them make the bundle strictly cheaper. We'll tell you which side of the line you're on during the fit check.

Q: Which backends do you build on?

The one you already run: Shopify (via the Storefront API — works on standard plans, no Plus required for headless itself), or a Medusa.js or Vendure instance you operate. This engagement integrates with your backend; it doesn't set one up or migrate you — that's bundle/enterprise scope.

Q: Next.js or Hydrogen — which do you build on?

Depends on your backend and priorities. Committed to Shopify and want the fastest storefront? Hydrogen — it's Shopify's own framework, runs on the Oxygen edge with your store data colocated, and in Shopify's real-user data it's the fastest headless option (and the only one whose INP comes close to a Liquid theme). Want the widest React tooling and talent pool, or a frontend that also runs on Medusa.js or Vendure? Next.js — it's backend-agnostic. We recommend the fit on the call, not the one we'd rather build.

Q: Can I build a fully custom checkout?

On Shopify headless, no — you build up to the cart, then hand off to Shopify's hosted checkout (you can brand it, deeply on Plus, but not replace it). On Medusa.js or Vendure you own the flow end to end, and your existing payment wiring carries over.

Q: Will it be faster and lift my conversion?

A well-built headless store is fast, and faster stores do convert better — but speed comes from how the frontend is built, not the architecture by itself, and we won't promise you a specific conversion number. We build to beat Google's bar for a good Core Web Vitals score. If conversion is the goal, that's what the CRO pass in the bundle is for.

Q: Will we lose our Google rankings in the cutover?

The riskiest moment of any replatform is the URL change. Every legacy URL gets a mapped 301, metadata and structured data are emitted from the new storefront, and the cutover itself is zero-downtime. Rankings ride on the redirect map — which is why it's a named deliverable, not an afterthought.

Q: When should I NOT buy this?

Below roughly ₹50L/month in revenue, when a good theme already does the job, or when your only goal is checkout tweaks (that's a Shopify Plus feature, not a reason to rebuild). At that stage the ₹50,000 store build plus the ₹75,000 CRO pass returns more — and we'll tell you that on the fit-check call.

Q: What are the payment terms?

Single invoice via Zoho Billing (UPI, cards, netbanking, EMI) — the GST invoice lands in your inbox the moment payment clears. Kickoff within one business day of the fit check.

Your backend already works — catalog, checkout, orders all flow. It's the theme that's the ceiling: load times past 3 seconds on sale days, designs Liquid can't express, SEO you can't fully control. This engagement rebuilds only the frontend — a Next.js, or Shopify Hydrogen, storefront on the backend you already run (Shopify, Medusa.js, or Vendure). ₹4,00,000 + GST fixed, 3–4 months, full code ownership.

The transformation

From speed you can't control to revenue from the traffic you already have.

Before

A Liquid theme where apps stack up, mobile load creeps past 3 seconds, and you can't touch how it renders — so a slow page quietly taxes every sale.

After

A Next.js storefront you own, built to beat Google's 2.5-second LCP bar — faster pages that convert more of the same visitors, with SEO you control down to the component.

Google and Deloitte found a 0.1-second mobile speed gain lifted conversions 8.4% and average order value 9.2% — more revenue from the same traffic, at the same ad cost. The catch: going headless isn't automatically faster — on real-user data, Shopify's Liquid themes pass Core Web Vitals more often than most headless frameworks. Speed comes from how it's built, which is the entire job.

Design, store setup, or CRO too? The bundle is ₹1,00,000 more

The Growww Guarantee: fixed scope, no mid-build surprises.

Fixed written scope before kickoff — extras are named and priced there, never mid-build. 200+ stores shipped — we've never missed a timeline. How it works

Worth checking first

₹1,00,000 more buys ₹2,75,000 of engagements.

This build assumes your design files are dev-ready and your store is already in shape. If either isn't true, the enterprise bundle is usually the cheaper path — same headless build, three engagements folded in.

The ₹5,00,000 bundle adds

vs ₹4,00,000 standalone

Store development — catalog, payments, shipping, GST setup₹50,000 standalone
UI/UX design — the storefront drawn phone-first in Figma₹1,50,000 standalone
CRO pass — 344 checks implemented on staging before launch₹75,000 standalone

Three engagements, ≈₹2,75,000 bought separately — folded in for the ₹1,00,000 difference. One team, one scope, one timeline.

What we build

The engine stays. The front gets rebuilt.

Six things the ₹4,00,000 ships — on the Shopify, Medusa.js, or Vendure backend you already operate.

A storefront you own — Next.js or Hydrogen
Your storefront rebuilt as a Next.js app, or on Shopify's Hydrogen if you're Shopify-committed — server-rendered and statically generated, served from the edge. You control the UI, the SEO, and the render down to the component.
On the backend you already run
Shopify's Storefront API, or your existing Medusa.js / Vendure instance. We integrate with the engine you operate today — no replatforming, no backend migration.
Core Web Vitals, controlled
Static and server-rendered pages, image and bundle discipline, ISR that refreshes on a webhook instead of a timer. Google's bar for a good LCP is 2.5 seconds — we build to beat it.
Built for peak traffic
Diwali, EOSS, a flash-sale spike — static and edge-served pages absorb the surge, so the ads you run on a sale day land on a page that loads, not a spinner.
SEO carried over, not gambled
301 redirects mapped for every legacy URL, metadata and schema emitted from the new storefront — you keep the search equity the old store earned.
Full ownership, no lock-in
Complete source, the deployment project, and documentation handed over. Swap the frontend or move the backend later without rebuilding everything.

Hydrogen
Shopify-native
You're committed to Shopify and want the fastest storefront. Hydrogen runs on Shopify's Oxygen edge with your store data colocated — queried at localhost speed — and streams the page shell without waiting on the data fetch.
Shopify's own recommended headless framework. In Shopify's real-user data it's the fastest headless option: 35% of Hydrogen sites pass all Core Web Vitals and 74% hit good INP — the only headless framework that comes close to a Liquid theme.
Next.js
Portable
You want the widest React tooling and talent pool, your team already knows it, or the storefront has to span more than Shopify — it runs the same on Shopify, Medusa.js or Vendure, deployed to Vercel's edge or your own India-region server.
Backend-agnostic and battle-tested. You wire the Storefront API, caching and edge delivery yourself — which is exactly the discipline the speed depends on, and exactly what this engagement ships.

Speed → conversion

Speed is revenue — when it's built right.

TTFB, best-case cached: <400ms
LCP — Google's ‘good’ bar: <2.5s
Conversions per 0.1s faster: +8.4%

Built static and edge-served, with full-page and per-request caching, a headless storefront answers from the edge in the low hundreds of milliseconds and clears Google's Core Web Vitals bar. That speed converts: Google and Deloitte measured a 0.1-second mobile gain lifting conversions 8.4% and average order value 9.2% — from the same traffic, at the same ad spend.

The honest part: headless isn't automatically faster. On real-user data most headless frameworks pass Core Web Vitals less often than a good Shopify theme — it's the edge-and-caching discipline that makes it fast, and that discipline is the job. “Under 400ms” is a first-byte (TTFB) best-case on a cache hit, not a full-page load promise.

Straight answer

When you should not buy this.

Below roughly ₹50L/month in revenue, don't. A good theme still does the job at that scale, and the same budget spent on the ₹50,000 store build plus the ₹75,000 CRO pass returns more than a headless rebuild.

And if your design files aren't dev-ready or the store itself still needs work, the standalone build is the wrong door — buying design and store setup separately erases most of the ₹1,00,000 you saved. Take the bundle instead; it exists for exactly that case.

The upgrade ladder

One team, every rung. Buy the one your money is leaking from.

Every rung pulls more orders out of traffic you already pay for. You don't climb it in order — you start where the leak is. Here's the honest map.

Growww Tech service upgrade ladder — price, who each rung is for, and what it changes.
Upgrade	Price	Best when	What changes
Shopify store	₹50,000+ GST	You're selling in DMs or on a stock template — your first real store.	Off the DMs onto a store on our own theme — payments, shipping, GST, live in 4 weeks.
CRO pass	₹75,000+ GST	You already have traffic, but it leaks at the cart and the checkout.	344 checks implemented on your live store — plug the ~70% cart-abandon and COD-RTO leaks. More orders from the same ad spend.
UI/UX Design	₹1,50,000+ GST	The store works but looks like everyone's template — you want a custom, phone-first design.	All 15 store templates drawn phone-first for your brand, with a design system your team keeps. Design only — the build is separate.
Headless Next.jsYou’re here	₹4,00,000+ GST	Roughly ₹50L+/month and the theme is capping your speed, design, or SEO.	A storefront you own, built to beat Google's 2.5s LCP bar — where a 0.1s speed gain is tied to +8.4% conversion.
Enterprise bundle	₹5,00,000+ GST	₹2Cr+/month, and you want store, design, speed and funnel rebuilt together — one team.	Headless + store + UI/UX + CRO folded in — about ₹6,75,000 of work for ₹5,00,000.
Mobile app	₹3,00,000+ GST	Roughly 1000+ orders/month and buyers who reorder inside 90 days.	An owned home-screen channel — reach repeat buyers by push instead of re-buying the ad. Repeat orders up, re-acquisition spend down.

Our recommendation:

plug the leak before you widen the pipe. A CRO pass earns its fee on traffic you already have; headless and an app pay off only once speed or repeat-rate is the actual ceiling. If a cheaper rung returns more for you right now, we’ll say so on the call rather than sell you the bigger number.

Process

How the 3–4 months run — milestone by milestone.

Complete transparency. Six milestones from fit check to handover, each with what we ship and what you receive.

Milestone 01 · Week 1
Fit Check — Honestly
A 30-minute call to confirm a headless frontend is right for you — before any money moves.
- Under roughly ₹50L/month, we'll usually tell you to stay on a good theme — the same budget on CRO and acquisition returns more at that scale.
- We check the two standalone prerequisites on the call: dev-ready design files, and a store/backend that's already in shape. Missing either usually makes the bundle the cheaper path — we'll say so.
- If the fit is right, you get access to our client portal at portal.growwwtech.com for feedback, approvals, and progress tracking.
You'll receive
- Straight fit verdict on the call
- Client portal access
- Current-store audit notes
Milestone 02 · Weeks 2–3
Architecture + Scope
We map the storefront, the API surface, and the render strategy against the backend you already run — then the scope is fixed in writing.
- Framework picked to fit: Hydrogen on Shopify's Oxygen edge if you're Shopify-committed and want raw speed, Next.js if you want portability across Shopify, Medusa.js or Vendure.
- Per-page render strategy: static, server-rendered, or ISR — decided by how often the content changes, not by default.
- Your backend stays where it is: Shopify's Storefront API, or the Medusa.js / Vendure instance you already operate. We integrate; we don't rebuild the engine.
- Checkout follows your backend — Shopify's hosted checkout stays on Shopify headless; on Medusa.js or Vendure your existing payment wiring carries over.
You'll receive
- Architecture map
- Fixed written scope
- Render strategy per page type
Milestone 03 · Months 1–3
Build in Sprints
The Next.js storefront built from your design files — 2-week sprints, weekly demos on a staging URL.
- You watch the store take shape on staging every week — no three-month silence, no big reveal.
- Built from your dev-ready design files as drawn. If the files aren't ready, the UI/UX design engagement (₹1,50,000) or the bundle covers it.
- Storefront talks to the backend over GraphQL; either side can be swapped later without rebuilding the other.
You'll receive
- Weekly staging demos
- Next.js storefront (SSR / static / ISR)
- Backend integration over the storefront API
Milestone 04 · Final weeks
Performance + SEO Pass
Core Web Vitals green, metadata and schema wired, and every old URL mapped so you keep your search equity through the cutover.
- Google's bar for a good LCP is 2.5 seconds — we build to beat it. Speed comes from how it's built, not the architecture alone.
- 301 redirects mapped for every legacy URL; metadata and structured data emitted from the storefront you own.
You'll receive
- Core Web Vitals report
- Redirect map + schema wiring
Milestone 05 · Month 3–4
Launch + Handover
Cut over with no downtime — rewiring the building with the lights on. Then everything is handed over.
- Zero-downtime cutover, monitored through the first sale days.
- Complete source code, the deployment project, and documentation — full ownership, no lock-in, no AMC.
You'll receive
- Zero-downtime launch
- Full code + deployment handover
- Documentation written for your team
Milestone 06
Out-of-Scope Work Policy
Any request beyond the fixed written scope is out-of-scope work — handled transparently, never silently billed.
- Store development, design, CRO, backend changes, and ERP/B2B integrations are separate engagements — the bundle exists precisely to price the common ones together.
- Smaller extras are tracked in the Growww Tech client portal and billed only with your approval.
You'll receive
- Transparent time tracking via portal
- Prior intimation before any additional billing

Scope boundaries

What we need from you. What we don't do.

No surprises post-kickoff. Here is the assumption boundary on both sides — and most of the right column is exactly what the bundle folds in.

What we need from you

Dev-ready design files (Figma) — no files yet? The ₹1,50,000 UI/UX engagement or the bundle covers it
A store/backend already in shape — catalog, pricing, and checkout working today
API access to your backend (Storefront API token, or your Medusa.js / Vendure instance)
Access to analytics and Search Console for the audit and redirect map
A decision-maker on the weekly demo call
Consolidated feedback within 3 working days per review round

What's not included

Store development — catalog, payments, shipping, GST setup (₹50,000 standalone, or folded into the bundle)
UI/UX design — we build from your files; drawing them is the ₹1,50,000 engagement (or the bundle)
CRO — the 344-point pass is ₹75,000 standalone (or folded into the bundle)
Backend setup or migration — moving platforms is bundle/enterprise scope
ERP integration and complex B2B logic — scoped and priced separately
Copywriting, product photography, and video
Backend hosting and platform fees — servers, Shopify subscription, gateway charges are billed to you directly
