Software Engineer Trainee

The entry point into the engineering team, and a real one — you will be in client code in your first months, not shadowing. A degree in CS or IT, the fundamentals in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and one backend language is the floor. You also need to have used an AI coding tool on actual work. We are not testing whether you can code without one; we are checking you can already work the way this team works.

What you actually work on

  • Shopify themes in Liquid for live Indian D2C stores, alongside a senior engineer.
  • Third-party app and API integrations — the plumbing that makes a store actually ship orders.
  • Testing, debugging and performance work on web and mobile features.
  • Code review, from both sides. Yours gets read, and you read others'.

What you will do

  • Develop and customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Build and maintain responsive web pages and ecommerce storefronts.
  • Assist in integrating third-party apps and APIs into Shopify stores.
  • Use AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codeium, or Claude) to boost development speed and code quality.
  • Participate in Android and iOS app development tasks using assigned frameworks.
  • Perform testing, debugging, and performance optimization of web and app features.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, project managers, and QA.
  • Follow coding standards and contribute to code reviews.
  • Stay updated on Shopify platform updates, AI development tools, and web development best practices.

What we need from you

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Basic hands-on knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one backend language (PHP, Python, or Node.js).
  • Understanding of how ecommerce platforms or CMS tools work.
  • Familiarity with Shopify or Liquid templating is a strong advantage.
  • Basic working knowledge of at least one AI tool (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codeium, Claude) applied to development tasks — required.
  • Basic understanding of Git and version control workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good to have

  • Knowledge of Shopify theme architecture and the Storefront API.
  • Exposure to mobile development (Flutter or React Native).
  • Basic understanding of REST APIs and JSON.
  • Portfolio or GitHub profile showcasing projects.
  • Experience using AI tools to speed up debugging, code generation, or documentation.

Do not apply if

Cheaper to read now than to find out in round two.

  • You want to work remotely — this role is in the Visakhapatnam office.
  • You have never applied an AI tool to a real development task. This is listed as required, not preferred.
  • You want to be handed tickets in isolation. Juniors sit on client calls here.

Applying takes about ten minutes

The form is on our recruitment portal — you will need a CV, and you will hear back either way. The role is based in Visakhapatnam; read the working-mode line above before you apply rather than after two rounds of interviews.
