This one is written for an Indian D2C team — where COD still drives 50–70% of orders, UPI Intent settles in seconds, RTO eats margin in Tier 2/3 lanes, and Diwali pulls a quarter's revenue into a two-week window. If a step below references a payment gateway choice, the answer isn't universal: we pick by vendor response rate, not affiliation. Log in to Shopify Admin
From the left-side menu, click Discounts
Click Create discount on the top-right corner
A popup window will appear
Select Free shipping
Choose one option:
Discount code
Customers must enter a code at checkout
Example: FREESHIP
Automatic discount
Free shipping applies automatically
Enter a Title (visible to customers at checkout)
Type the discount code (example: FREESHIP)
Or click Generate random code
(Skip this step if you selected Automatic discount)
Select where free shipping should apply:
All countries – Free shipping for all regions
Selected countries – Free shipping only for chosen regions
If you choose Selected countries:
Click Browse
Select countries using checkboxes
Click Add
Choose one option:
No minimum requirements
(Free shipping on all orders)
Minimum purchase amount
Enter amount (example: ₹999)
Minimum quantity of items
Enter item count (example: 2 items)
Select one:
All customers
Specific customer segments
Specific customers
If you select Specific customer segments:
Click Browse
Select segments using checkboxes
Click Add
Enable if required:
Limit number of times this discount can be used
Limit to one use per customer
Choose whether free shipping can combine with:
Product discounts
Order discounts

Combining free shipping with other discounts can reduce margins. Use carefully.
Choose Start date and time
Optional: Enable End date and set expiry time
Click Save (top-right corner)
Free shipping is now active and will apply based on:
Selected regions
Minimum order conditions
Customer eligibility
Use Free Shipping above ₹999 / ₹1499 to protect margins
Clearly mention conditions on banners & product pages
Test with a dummy order before announcing
Avoid overlapping with heavy discount offers
