Anything to Shopify · included in the ₹50,000 build

Shopify migration that keeps the rankings you spent years building.

The question you actually want answered is not what the move costs. It is whether your Google traffic survives it. One merchant posted a 49.75% traffic drop the week after a Magento move, with redirects already in place. Here is the honest version: the platform does not kill your traffic, an unmapped URL does. We move you to Shopify with every old URL mapped before the switch — and the migration is included in the ₹50,000 + GST store build, whatever you are moving from.

What the migration costs: nothing extra

Migration is not a separate product here. It is the same Shopify build every other client gets — ₹50,000 + GST, custom-coded theme, live in 20–30 working days — with your data carried into it. There is no per-platform migration fee, no data surcharge, and no AMC afterwards.

That is worth stating against the market, because the numbers are public if you look. Checked on 23 August 2026: BYB Traction publishes ₹34,999 to ₹1,49,999 for a migration on its own, and Amwhiz a flat ₹45,000. Most agency migration pages publish no number at all. What the market charges to move your data, you pay here for the whole store.

The one optional cost afterwards is the ₹30,000/month growth retainer — growth work you opt into, not maintenance you are locked into. Anything we built that breaks, we fix free for as long as the store runs.

What actually moves

A migration is a data job wearing a website's clothes. This is the whole of it:

  • Products — with variants, images, SEO titles and meta descriptions, and per-product metafields. Shopify's product CSV carries all of it.
  • Customers — with their addresses and their email-marketing consent, so you do not restart your list from zero.
  • Historical orders — Shopify has no CSV path for these, so they move by API. We import 2–5 years, which is what Shopify's own launch checklist recommends.
  • Blogs and pages — posts, categories and static pages, rebuilt on Shopify's URL shape.
  • Gift cards and store credit — imported right before go-live, because a card spent on the old store after import can never be corrected.
  • Every old URL — mapped to its new address and bulk-imported as a redirect before the DNS switch, not after.

What does not move — and no agency can move it

Every limit below is published by Shopify itself. We list them because the alternative is you discovering them in week five:

  • Customer passwords. Not by us, not by anyone — they are encrypted outside Shopify, so no tool can carry them. Every customer gets an invite to set a new one, and we schedule those invites in batches so your domain does not get flagged as spam.
  • Product reviews. Shopify states outright that reviews cannot be exported or migrated — the same sentence appears in its WooCommerce, Wix and Squarespace guides. They get re-collected in a reviews app, and we tell you that before you pay, not after.
  • Original order dates. Shopify's API does not allow setting the creation date on an imported order, confirmed by Shopify's own staff, so historical orders read as new. Your reporting history lives in the export we hand you.
  • Product options beyond three. Shopify allows three options per product; anything with more loses its options on import, so those products get restructured by hand.
  • Subscription payment methods. PayPal billing agreements and Apple Pay, Google Pay and Venmo tokens cannot come across at all, and raw card import needs Shopify Plus plus a PCI-approved flow. Subscription contracts are recreated, not moved.
  • Wix location-based pricing. Shopify sets every product to its highest price, so the pricing rules get rebuilt.

If a migration quote promises you zero data loss, it contradicts Shopify's own documentation. That is the first thing worth checking about whoever is quoting you.

The redirect map is the migration

Shopify imposes its own URL shape. Shopify's own example: a shipping policy at /policies/shipping-policy becomes /pages/shipping-policy. Multiply that across a catalogue and every ranking URL you own has a new address.

Two constraints most people meet too late. Shopify will only redirect from a URL that already returns a 404, and it blocks redirects on its own reserved paths — which is the structural reason a replatform cannot preserve an old URL scheme exactly. You work with Shopify's shape, or you lose the rankings arguing with it.

The failure mode is specific and it is survivable. In the worst case we have read, a twenty-year-old business found its old URLs were returning the homepage with a 200 status instead of a redirect — soft 404s, in Google's terms — and confirmed a year later that the traffic never came back. As one reply in a post-migration thread put it, most post-migration traffic loss comes from uncontrolled changes to names, content, schema and site structure, not from the platform.

So the redirects go in as a bulk CSV import before the DNS switch, and after launch we test them for 404s and resubmit the sitemap — the sequence in Shopify's own launch checklist. This is rewiring a building with the lights on: the store keeps selling while the wiring changes behind the wall.

How the move runs

Six steps, inside the same 20–30 working days as the build:

01

Full export and a URL inventory

Everything comes out of the old store first — catalogue, customers, orders, and a crawl of every indexed URL you own. That URL list is the whole job. It is the difference between a migration and a traffic loss.

02

The store gets built, not cloned

A custom-coded Shopify theme for your catalogue, the same build as any ₹50,000 store. A migration is not an excuse to hand you a stock theme with your logo on it.

03

Data in, in Shopify's order

Products, then customers, then historical orders — the sequence Shopify prescribes, because getting it wrong means re-importing. Staff order notifications go off first, or your team gets an inbox full of years-old orders.

04

The redirect map, imported before launch

Every old URL mapped to its new address and bulk-imported by CSV. Shopify caps this at 100,000 redirects on the standard plans and 20 million on Plus, so catalogue size is not the constraint. Care is.

05

Payments, shipping and GST wired for India

Shopify Payments does not operate in India, so a third-party gateway is not optional here — it is the only path, and it has to be tested with real transactions. COD rules, courier integration and GST invoicing get configured in the same pass.

06

Gift cards, then DNS, then verification

Gift cards go in immediately before go-live. DNS TTL drops to 300 about a week ahead so the switch propagates fast — usually inside two hours by Shopify's own estimate. Then we test the redirects for 404s and resubmit the sitemap.

What changes, by where you are coming from

WooCommerce / WordPress to Shopify

The most common move we do, and the one with the most to lose: a WooCommerce store that has been indexed for years has the deepest URL map. The plugin stack is the other half of the job — what fourteen plugins were doing gets rebuilt as native Shopify behaviour or one app, not fourteen. Reviews do not transfer, so they get re-collected. Read the honest platform comparison first if you have not decided yet.

Magento to Shopify

Usually a cost-and-headcount decision rather than a feature one: Magento needs a developer on call in a way Shopify does not. Catalogue, customers and order history carry over. The parts that need rebuilding are the ones Magento does natively and Shopify does through apps — tier pricing, customer groups, and anything running on custom PHP.

Wix to Shopify

Usually a smaller catalogue and a faster move. Two Wix-specific traps: location-based pricing does not survive — Shopify takes the highest price on every product — and Wix reviews cannot be exported at all, which Shopify states in its own Wix guide.

BigCommerce to Shopify

Structurally the easiest of the four — two hosted platforms with similar catalogue models, so the data maps cleanly. The work sits in the theme and in the checkout rules, not in the import.

Shopify to Shopify

Same price. Two brands ask for this: one that has outgrown a store somebody else built badly, and one consolidating two stores into one. Internal URL changes need the same redirect discipline as a platform change — a collection that moves is a ranking that moves.

And the India-specific part

Shopify Payments does not operate in India, so a third-party gateway is mandatory and Shopify charges an extra fee on top — 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced. Shopify also states plainly that it does not produce a GST-compliant bill, so GST invoicing needs an app. Both get wired and tested in the build.

We have done this 50+ times since 2019

Mostly WooCommerce and WordPress stores, mostly Indian D2C brands, across 200+ stores built in total. Twelve of those moves have published case studies you can open and check — Madhurika Attires, Kiwi Wardrobe, Arya Collections, Amma Selection, The Horizon Collections and Ashok Chakra Nursery among them.

Shopify Plus Partner since 2019, working out of Visakhapatnam. If you want to judge us the way we would judge a vendor, the Shopify Partner Directory listing carries reviews we cannot edit.

When you should not move

If the only reason is that the current site feels slow. Slowness is usually images, a bloated theme or cheap hosting, and all three are fixable where you are for a fraction of a rebuild. Get it measured first. If someone tells you the platform is the reason without looking at the numbers, they are selling you a platform.

If you are mid-season and your peak is six weeks out. A migration touches the URL of every page you rank for. Do that in the run-up to a festive season and you are betting your best quarter on a redirect map. Move in the quiet month; we will say so and hold the slot.

If Shopify is genuinely the wrong platform for you. It happens — a marketplace with many sellers, or a catalogue built on rules Shopify does not model, belongs elsewhere. We also move stores off Shopify for the same ₹50,000 when that is the honest answer, and we would rather do that than sell you a migration you will regret.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Shopify migration cost in India?

With us, nothing on top of the store build: ₹50,000 + GST covers the complete Shopify store and the migration into it, whatever platform you are leaving. For comparison, checked on 23 August 2026: BYB Traction publishes ₹34,999 to ₹1,49,999 for the migration alone, and Amwhiz publishes a flat ₹45,000 for migration. What the market charges to move your data, you pay here for the whole store.

Will I lose my Google rankings when I move to Shopify?

Not from the platform change itself. Traffic dies when old URLs stop resolving correctly — the worst case we have read about was a twenty-year-old business whose old URLs returned the homepage with a 200 status instead of a redirect, which Google reads as a soft 404; twelve months later it had not recovered. That is a mapping failure, not a Shopify failure. Every old URL gets mapped and the redirects are imported before the DNS switch, not discovered afterwards.

How long does a Shopify migration take?

It happens inside the same 20–30 working days as the store build, because it is the same project. There is no separate migration phase bolted on the end. The one hard scheduling rule is gift cards, which go in immediately before go-live.

What data does not transfer to Shopify?

Customer passwords, product reviews, original order dates, product options beyond the third, subscription payment tokens, and Wix location-based pricing. Every one of those limits is documented by Shopify, not invented by us — which is why any agency promising you a migration with no data loss has not read the documentation.

Do my customers have to reset their passwords?

Yes, and this is unavoidable on any platform move. Passwords are encrypted outside Shopify so no migration tool can carry them. What we control is the damage: invites go out in scheduled batches with your branding, rather than one blast that gets your domain flagged.

Can I migrate from one Shopify store to another?

Yes, and it is the same price. Store-to-store moves are common when a brand has outgrown a store somebody else built badly, or is consolidating two stores into one. Same ₹50,000, same redirect discipline — internal URL changes need mapping just as much as a platform change does.

Should I use a migration app instead of hiring an agency?

For a small catalogue with no order history and no rankings to protect, an app is genuinely fine — Matrixify is rated 4.9 from over 1,400 reviews and does real work. Two things to know before you decide: Shopify's own free Store Migration app moves only products and customers, and sits at 3.1 stars from 71 reviews with 27% of them one-star. And on LitExtension, password handling, SEO URL migration and 301 redirects are priced as paid add-ons rather than included. Shopify's own WooCommerce guide lists hiring a Shopify Partner as one of its five recommended routes.

What does Shopify itself cost in India after I move?

Shopify's India pricing, checked 23 August 2026: Basic ₹1,994/month billed monthly or ₹1,499 billed yearly, Grow ₹7,447 or ₹5,599, Advanced ₹30,164 or ₹22,680, and Plus from ₹1,75,000/month. Add Shopify's third-party gateway fee, which every Indian merchant pays because Shopify Payments does not operate here: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced, 0.2% on Plus. That fee is the line most quotes leave out.
